Kelsey Semien is a University of Memphis alumni with a BA in News Broadcasting and a Minor in Spanish. Before starting her freshman year in college she had the opportunity to freelance for The Jackson Sun, a major news outlet in Jackson, TN.
During her studies at U of M she maintained a job in the full service restaurant industry and volunteered in the Media Ministry at New Direction Christian Church. She has over 7 years of full service restaurant experience including; customer service, food sales, cash handling, working in a fast paced team environment and meeting sales goals.
Her junior year in undergrad she landed an internship with WHBQ FOX 13, one of Memphis' largest news outlets. She worked her way up to a position with the company as a production technician. In the mist of all of her domestic endeavors Semien was able to study abroad twice. She studied The Global Ethical Model for Digital Media in Mainz, Germany, and Latin Literature and Culture in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Shortly after walking across the stage Semien decided that she wanted to move in a new direction and relocated to Los Angeles, CA to start the ESL Graduate program at the University of Southern California. Semien realized that teaching was not her true passion and once again relocated to Houston, TX. There she worked full - time in the restaurant industry as a server, bartender and manager.
During that time she has done extensive research on different career fields and would now like to dive into Marketing, Sales, Copy Writing and Public Relations. She feels that with her diverse background and various fields of experience, she could thrive in an entry level position in any of these fields.
